Ilene Cohen is a yoga teacher providing restorative yoga classes in New York City. 



Restorative yoga allows the body to move into the parasympathetic nervous system. The parasympathetic nervous system helps to reduce stress by slowing down the heart rate, lowering blood pressure and improving digestion. Some of the many benefits of restorative yoga are:

In a restorative yoga practice, the body is fully supported by props (including bolsters, blankets, and eye pillows) to allow for deep relaxation.  Ilene is a level 1 Certified Relax & Renew Trainer and is currently in the process of completing a training with the Urban Zen Integrative Therapy Program.  The Urban Zen program uses yoga therapy, incorporating therapeutic movement, Reiki, a Japanese energy healing practice, aromatherapy, using essential oils, body scan meditations and breath awareness to aid in the relief of pain, anxiety, nausea, insomnia and digestive concerns.  Her sessions include a sequence of restorative poses customized to each student's needs.
